Get Real

After weeks and weeks of just flat out neglecting my love and strange obsession for digital portrait art...I went on a total painting binge and finally finished some new pieces. It's very tough when much of my time goes to more of the photography side of work lately...but I'm still a little painting nerd at heart:)
These were various experimental pieces with facial distortion, brush stroke techniques...and of course my affinity for photo realism...and as a perfectionist you know I'm bound to sit at a blank screen and not rest until the outcome is a picture that's hard to determine if its real or not. The 3rd piece took the most time because I wanted it to look like a photograph...and it was supposed to be almost a full body shot but after spending 15 hours on the face, I had a total "fuck it" moment and cropped the rest out...seeing as it would have taken me like...a year :/
The 4th one is Lana Del Rey....but she's just so pretty and it was bugging me...so I turned her into a zombie. OH! And the first two were going to be part of an earth elements 4 part painting series but due to severe lack of time only 2 got finished. whoopsies.
I keep saying that I'm going to post a video or tutorial on how to do this kind of stuff, and dammit I'm still going to!! Somehow.... :/ I could either do a million screen shots...or video tape it...both sounding incredibly annoying to figure out but it's always kind of cool to see just a white screen turn into a entire human face:)
and...Bat for Lashes time....:)
